On 25th January our new lifeboat completed it’s survey to enable us to put it into service as a lifeboat. The survey took place at Goodchild Marine Services and was carried out by MECAL. Goodchild’s carried out the construction of the new lifeboat, to a specification developed by the Mundesley Lifeboat crew. Successful completion of the survey is a further step towards our service obtaining ‘Declared Facility Status’ with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. This status puts our service on a formal footing with the MCA for future operations. The picture shows Goodchild Marine Services engineers and the MECAL surveyor carrying out damaged stability checks. This ensures the boat is stable with the flotation tubes punctured, while the crew are onboard.
